Journaling

20May08

Friday, May 16 – I worked through lunch and left work at 4:15. We were going to Johnson City to move Olivia out of her apartment, and decided to leave on Friday night. AS it is over a 4 hour drive (pulling a u-haul), we didn’t want to spend half our day on Saturday driving. We arrived at Olivia’s about 11:30 p.m.

Saturday, May 17 – From about 7:30 a.m. until 4:00 or so, we packed, taped, trashed, cleaned, carried out to the pick-up truck and u-haul everything in Olivia’s apartment. She was overwhelmed with it all and was worrying it would never be done! She said several times something like “Where did I get all this crap?”  :) I told her she should try moving after living in a place about 10 years! She had been there about 3 years and she is a pack-rat! I guess we all are — I know that I should start clearing out now (and we aren’t even planning to move!) About 2:00, she and I took a break and went out to Chik-Fil-A to get us some lunch. Other than that we were hard at it until, every single thing was cleared and cleaned! She headed off to Chattanooga and we headed home. When we got there, we unloaded it all into our garage, took the u-haul and truck back to town. We then went to Wal-mart for a shower gift for Sunday, and got home at nearly 11:00 p.m. After a shower, I started working on the house. The living room was okay, but I had much to do in kitchen and dining room. I had 2-3 boxes of food and other kitchen items to put away, plus clearing off counters, cleaning etc. Why am I doing this after 11:00 p.m. on Saturday night? BECAUSE I was hostessing a BRIDAL SHOWER at my house on Sunday afternoon!! Why was I hostessing a bridal shower on the Sunday of the weekend that I was NOT at home to get ready??? ummmm… I’m crazy????

Sunday, May 18 – I went to bed about 12:30 a.m. Tired? Sore? Not sleeping well? You betcha! I got up about 6:30 and went back to working on the house… I, too, am a pack-rat! And a procrastinator… I cleared my desk of months of accumulated junk, polished the furniture, swept and mopped, and had Larry sweep and vacuum the front porch and the living room. After going to worship, I put cloths on the tables, set candles around in appropriate places, cut a large vase of iris for the table… and was ready when the first helper/guest arrived before 1:00. There were around 45-50 women and children in my house for this event!!! The Bride was happy and received a lot of useful gifts for her new home. When the last person left, it was time to go to worship again. Afterwards, I visited the hospital for a friend whose father-in-law is enduring the last days of his fight with cancer. Then about and hour or so of talking with Larry and then to my room for some unwinding with video taped shows before falling in the bed.

and somehow, I FORGOT to call my little nephew for his birthday, and I forgot I intended to call my sister regarding the family reunions…

Is it too late to comment here??? I still have trouble finding everything on wordpress. When I click on your name it takes me to the 4 sisters site, so I have been missing some of your blogs. I found this by going back to check on 360. I have wondered why there is never anything new . . . Love and miss you so much!!

*Laughing* at your descriptions of us being pack-rats & our weekend of frenzied packing & cleaning. :) Thanks again Momma, for everything. I love you SO very much!
