September 29, Oct 18, 25, Nov 12, 15 – the dates of my last 5 blogs — one in Sept. 2 in Oct. Not doing very well, hmmm.  I really enjoy this site, and I love readining everyone else’s blogs. I know it was probably my fault that we all became slackers – if one reads a blog from ones friends and family, then one is more in the mood to blog… it is self-feeding, and so is the decline. So, let’s try this again?

what’s on your mind today?

this morning, I am thinking

… got to clean house each evening this week instead of reading (having a jewelry party Sunday afternoon). That is hard for me to work in the evenings! Love to relax with coffee and a book and the t.v remote.

… going to see New Moon on Friday nite (yes, I am a big fan!) I have re-read the books the last couple weeks, and am ready for it.

… am ready to get decorated for Christmas (having company in November always puts me in the mood). I love decorating for Christmas and I always want it done before Thanksgiving since my kids will all be home then. especially this year, since Olivia might not get to come home much if any more before Christmas as she works weird schedules.  So with the party Sunday afternoon, Thanksgiving next week, open house December 5; it is now time for me to get it done! I am pondering how long I can keep a live tree.

… which brings me to the biggest thing on my mind today. This is seven years since our Bridget had her car wreck . Seeing that beautiful crooked smile in my mind.

I love these days. I know I really should have done more with this afternoon, but I have enjoyed it. I cooked a good lunch: baked chicken, green beans, wild rice, stove top stuffing, mac and cheese, potatoes, corn bread. After lunch I baked a cake – took a box of cake mix, added the eggs, and then a can of fruit cocktail juice and all; mixed that up really good, chopping up the fruit; and baked it; then took a cup of evaporated milk and added a stick of butter and a cup of sugar, boiled that 10 minutes, added coconut and poured it all over the cake; broiled it a little and done! It is very good.  After that, I have read! and read! Took a few minutes to arrange a few of my Santas on top of my china cabinet. And read some more.

Now I am going to continue my book – Breaking Dawn. loving it.

I haven’t watched it  in a long time, not really being a BIG country fan. When I chose music to listen to in my car, it is rock and alternative usually. Some pop I guess. I am never sure exactly what pop is – short for popular, right? meaning what they play on the radio over and over every day? the last country c.d. I purchased was Johnny Cash (his last c.d.) I don’t think it is in the car though. In my c.d. player at work is the theme from Twilight. in the player in the car is Rob Zombie. Tim McGraw – pretty awesome. Taylor Swift – what a night. Daughtry and Vince Gill together – that is actually why I watched the show.  Wonderful. okay, this is really random. ha ha

I went for a drive (and some walking) this afternoon, around the area. It was so beautiful out today – mid 60’s, sunny, very autumn.  I was looking out my window enjoying the day, when I decided I would enjoy it better if I got out and took some photos. So here are two of the dozen or so that I took.When I came home I made peanut-butter cookies and peanut-butter frosting for them. Seemed like a good way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

Yesterday I went to Dunlap for a baby shower – the daughter of my friend, Joy – we had a wonderful visit. And it was also a beautiful day for a drive.

This whole week has been good – my sister, Gail and her husband, came to visit on Tuesday nite, and my daughter, Olivia, came on Wednesday nite.  Visiting Joy and seeing Olivia on Saturday, and having Zac and Kristin here for the weekend, just rounded out a full, good week.

that is what I am pondering.  When I first responded to my son’s invitation to Facebook, I accepted thinking it was one way to keep in touch with him and whatever was going on in his life.  I invited a few friends and accepted the invitation of a few more.  But I only went to the site now and again, not really very often. Then I got a few more friends. Then Chase said “mom, I need you.” well, what could I say? I said “for what?” and he said to join my Mafia on Mafia Wars (Facebook). So of course, I joined his Mafia. whatever my son needs, right? And I got a few friends from Leslie County, and conversation threads got started about old friends, old schools, old teachers… and I played Mafia Wars with my son. And Farm Town. Then I was going to Facebook every day. and more than once. Checking for messages, and interesting threads. Harvesting crops on my farm. Talking to Chase on the FB chat. Doing jobs on Mafia Wars. And the little box that asks “what’s on your mind?” It is just the right size for typing just a few lines; just a note; doesn’t take much time or thought or effort. and, oh my! that’s nearly the only place I go (online) anymore.  I came over here to Word Press – I used to enjoy blogging every so often. I tried to think of something to write about; to get me back in the frame of mind to blog; what do I say? oh, wait, I better go back and check on FB. Do I have any messages? has anyone posted any new photos? what has everyone done today? and I bet I need to make a deposit on Mafia Wars before someone steals all my money. oh, I need to Harvest my crops too.  I thought, hmmm, maybe I am addicted to FaceBook… reckon? I wonder. and I began thinking … nobody calls. nobody writes letters. nobody even emails. Apparently I am not the only one spending my spare computer time on Facebook!
