(listening to Lambert) and eating a breakfast bar. my coffee is cold. have been typing and thinking. what can I get done and how fast. today and tonight. last night I got the stuff picked up outta the floor and the floors swept and mopped.  about 4 loads laundry done (between Larry and me). dish washer run and the rest of the dishes washed and counter tops scrubbed. not enough, but it is a start. I think when I get back from NY that I am going to seriously start loading stuff in the pick up and take it away. somewhere. I am going to pretend we are getting ready to move. PRETEND. not wanting to go anywhere. let me make that clear! pretend to be getting ready to move. then get rid of everything I would not want to take with me! I am so over-run with Stuff and so Tired of it! Day Four. oops. something happened to Day Two and Three.

Sitting here listening to Daughtry and liking it. a beautiful wonderful lazy saturday. only lazy because I am letting it be. many many tasks awaiting my attention.

LW came home from a week in church camp again. He says it was a good one and he tells me he has a “sweetheart”. LOL. They play “sweetheart kickball” and the girls have to ask a guy to be her partner because that is the rules. they have to hold hands the entire game, playing kickball, holding hands throughout (running, kicking, catching). So this young girl (about 12 or so) asked him to be her “sweetheart” and he agreed. Most everybody enjoys the fun of that game. He thought it was sweet, that when her mother came to visit, she had to introduce him to her mother as her “sweetheart.”  :)

I had gone to Walmart, needing to have a photo enlarged for a funeral, picked up a few groceries (how could one go to Walmart and not pick up a few more things??) and also picked up the new Daughtry c.d. I am really liking him right now. his singing and his personality. speaking of singing, I sure am looking forward to Adam Lambert’s new c.d. I picked up the American Idol c.d in the store now, looked at the songs on the back, and put it back down. He only has two on it. I guess that is only fair. but it didn’t impress me. I’ll wait for his own.

Heard the phone ringing and went to answer and got distracted because the back door (beside where the phone sits) was open. Saw the back porch looking so inviting with about 1/3 of it still in the sun. Wandered on out there and sat down a few minutes, realizing I had on too many clothes for this. Went back to my room searching for shorts and finding none (I am really not a shorts kinda gal), grabbed a pair of jeans with holes in the knees and a pair of sissors, transformed them into acceptable sitting in the sun attire. Trecked to the basement to pull out the cushion for the chaise lounge, knocking over and breaking a clay pot in my hurry. Back out to the porch to enjoy the sun for awhile. Just seemed like the thing to do. was sitting there soaking in the rays, reading a book about werewolves, drinking lemon water, when it started sprinkling on me. felt so awesome. the sun very bright and hot. my skin wonderfully warm. and rain drops falling lightly. after a few minutes they were gone. my 1/3 of porch in the sun also began to shrink…had to sit sideways and prop my legs on the banister trying to capture a few more minutes of warmth. when the sun finally had left the porch, coming in here to read blogs (which I had noticed earlier in the day) -

By THE WAY – friends of mine -

this blogging thing IS like a relationship. it gets kinda lonesome by yourself. it’s the kind of thing that is fed by attention and response. so- you blog, I blog – you comment, I comment – you get the picture??? (laughter here) I know I know. I should start it more and I should nudge you and I should be the leader, right? I reckon I always was. So we’ll try to do better. (Day ONE)

a lie

25Jul09

I lied.

I didn’t really mean to do it

I had good intentions

but… well, it happens

things get in the way

makes me think of something I read the other day — if there are 24 hours in a day, how come I have so few of them??

or something to that effect

You probably think I can’t do it – especially since I haven’t done very well lately – maybe I just need a challenge. I usually seem to work better under pressure, get more done in a hurry, ever the procrastinator. As I signed on to WordPress today, looking in vain for new blogs from my circle of friends, I noticed a heading that said “Blog every day for a month”. As you may expect, it is a challenge to blog every day for a month, and impulsively I accepted. So here is the first… and do not be surprised to find yourself challenged to do the same!

I am very excited about a trip I have planned to New York to visit my cousin, Glenn. The Lord willing, Olivia, Chase and I will be flying out July 30. That day is fast approaching! To that end, I have been making a list of a few things I need to purchase before I go. #1 has been a pair of shoes. something comfortable. I have been to Lebanon and Nashville and tried on about 20 pairs of shoes… I can never make up my mind. It did not help that my right foot was giving me a great deal of pain… well, maybe it did, because I used that foot to try them on and quickly eliminated any shoe that did not feel good on my aching right foot. Therefore I came home shoeless. other than what I had on my feet when I left. But I did decide on a pair; I just did not buy that day. I came home and searched the internet… found my shoes for 20% less with no tax and free shipping. I ordered a pair of Keen H2 Newports. I did like them very much.

I think the next item on my list is p.j.s – I don’t think I will take my mis-matched years old pair that I wear around here. Not a pretty sight!

VBS – theme “Fishing with the Master”

Monday night. Nursery classroom. The teacher was in the “boat” trying to tell the bible story:

but she was laughing too hard….

This little dude (without the cake icing) had eluded the helper and was running all over the place, like a little tornado – refusing to be stuffed into the baby seats like the little girls!

Tuesday night. Craft time:

They enjoyed tearing pieces of colored tissue paper and gluing to the “I will share” poster.

Wednesday night. Our class went from this:

along with an accompanying scurrying about and running down to the house and back up to the classroom trying to come up with adequent supplies and copies…  wonderful problem to have!  They all enjoyed it so much they came back for Thursday night.

Last week, I was given the antibiotic Bactrim, and on the bottle was the label “avoid exposure to sunlight”. I didn’t give it much thought… I don’t work outside; I don’t lay out in the sun; I am in the house most of the time. I took the medicine 5 days and on Saturday morning, I pulled a few weeds in the flower bed and mowed the front yard (which is MOSTLY in SHADE).  I know. I know. I should not have been out there – I had just forgotten all about that little label. I did remember after about half an hour, and came inside and LW finished the mowing.  Monday I was so sick I couldn’t get up or do anything. I had “flu-like symptoms” – aching all over, chills, sweats, and nausea. I was some better on Tuesday so I went to work, but by the time I got home, I had a rash working it’s way all over my body, then came back the pain all over and the chills and shaking. I was unable to do anything but wrap up in blankets and try to stop shaking. I took benedryl and ibuprophen. I spent Tuesday night and Wednesday in this manner. I did call the doctor twice, and was told to let her know if I developed any problems with breathing or abnormal heart rhythms, otherwise to take benyldril every 4 hours until better. In other words, I had to wear it out. So I have missed two more days of work. Today, I am sitting up, not shaking, but still hurting very much and still covered in a measles-like rash.

So the next time I see the label, “avoid exposure to sunlight” – I will be wearing long sleeves, rushing from door to car etc, wearing sunglasses, a hat, and doing anything else I can to avoid the exposure!!!  I advise you to do the same.

I sit here, looking around the room at my sisters, thinking back on the day. It is a good day. I am basking in the love and good feelings sharing it with family. The morning started on a low note – Gail was in too much pain to be able to go with me to the reunion. I got there about 10:35 or so, and was first. I drove down to the shelter and unloaded my car, then moved it out to the parking area under a shade tree. I pulled out the spray cleaner and paper towels, cleaning off the 10 picnic tables as best I could. I had 7 table cloths with me, so I covered the worse of tables with those. As people started arriving, I greeted each and took their dishes to the side tables. It was slow going at first – we had put 11:00 in the newsletter as starting time. It was 12:30 before I decided it was time to eat; they were just too slow getting there! At that time, I thought ‘well, the turnout is small but we will enjoy ourselves.’ But shortly after, more came … and we ended up with 64 people (by my count). That was very good. I think everyone enjoyed themselves. I know I felt like it was all fun and good. It had rained recently and there was some boggy wet muddy area that the children did not try to avoid much to the consternation of some their parents. ha ha. I told one, just let him go and pull off the muddy shoes before you get in the car! The little ones enjoyed the playground; the bigger kids visited with each other and some played a lawn game that I had brought; some took lots of photos of everyone; and others just sat and visited. When Renda and I got everything cleaned up and carried away, we headed over to Gail’s. Gail has a beautiful pool and it is so hot – the kids can’t wait to jump in – and the dogs! So here, I sit … looking around the room at my sisters and mom … feeling thankful for the love and closeness of our family and for the blessings of this day.

4 weeks

02Jun09

I’ve really been a slacker. 4 weeks since I blogged. I suppose you have given up on me and probably are not even checking by now! I never meant to stop. One thing and then another has gotten in the way. So, what is going on? what has happened? and can I remember??

American Idol finished up. With Kris Allen as the winner. I was disappointed because, as you know, I am a huge Adam Lambert fan. I down-loaded all of his performances and listen to them (among others) as my background music at work, looking forward to his first c.d. I read a post awhile back that said (in part)… “A season finale without Adam would have been like a bowl of cereal without the milk: Dry, strange, and hard to swallow.” *laughing* Of course, I totally agreed. But the thing is… Tuesday night t.v after all the season finales is like that bowl of cereal without the milk. No Fringe and No American Idol. Whatever will I do on Tuesday nights??? Hubby is hoping it will become Housecleaning Night! *more laughing* hmm…

what next? oh, I’ll talk about the weekends -
Weekend of May 16 – I traveled to Kentucky for Tommy Lee’s wedding – Tommy Lee, sweet loveable, Tommy Lee. Eldest son of one of my close friends and first cousin, Tom, who passed away last year. The wedding was at Buckhorn Lake state park, and it was very beautiful. I was happy to be there for the occasion and Tommy and Maggie seemed pleased we had made the effort.

Weekend of May 23 – we went to Heritage Days festival in Granville, TN. We were supposed to be at a friends house for supper at 3:00 – it was a “meet and greet” thing for a young couple at church that we are involved in the wedding coming up. Well, I am not really involved other than my family is. Larry will be performing the ceremony and Zac and Kristin are both in the wedding. Mary Ann’s grandmother had a supper for her family to meet his parents and they wanted Larry and me and Zac and Kristin there. So that was the plan. Meanwhile we decided to go over to Granville as Larry was the only one that had been there before. We parked and rode the trolley down to the festival. There were a lot of displays and food and music. We got back home around 1:oo and I took a shower and got ready to go to Mary Ann’s supper. We got there about 2:30 and enjoyed a pleasant visit with everyone and good meal.

Weekend of May 30 – I worked all weekend on my flower beds. Larry and I worked awhile Saturday morning on pulling weeds and digging around in the dirt to loosen it up. We planted a few things that I had bought on Friday. We took a break and went to town – my plan was to buy more flowers! – and his plan was to attend the “family fun day” provided by our bank. So we did both! :) I stopped by the bank to do a little business and, while we were there, registered for door prizes. They had displays and music and activities for the kids set up out in the parking lot. The proceeds of sales of hot dogs etc went to the American Cancer Society. So we ate hot dogs and listened to live music and I bought some flowers at the flower stand they had there! Then I was thrilled to learn that I had won a door prize — $50.00 cash!! Larry thought he should receive half… but I didn’t agree! LOL That money went straight into my New York fund (for the trip I am planning in July.) After all that, we took my flowers home, and I spent the afternoon working with them. I have plenty to do! I got the long flower bed in front of the house in pretty good shape. Also planted some in a pot for the porch, and directed Larry in the placement and hanging of several hanging pots. After I wore plumb out, and had a shower and supper, I sat out in an Adriondack-type chair under the tree and enjoyed coffee, a book, and the view of all the pretty flowers. Sunday afternoon, I came back out and worked the flower bed under the big pine tree.
When Monday rolled around, I was not ABLE to work in flowers any more. My ribs ached all day (those previously broken ribs) as well as many other parts! So I rested Monday evening, caught up on some soaps, but enjoyed my coffee out under the tree!

Today (Tuesday) I might be able to pull some weeds from the section in front of the office — I am not sure! I have a load of mulch coming sometime, so I need to get them all ready. Okay – that is kinda what you missed by my not blogging for a month – besides the daily routines and happenings.

oh, and by the way, I am having more work done on the house — a little more remodeling and new kitchen countertops… more on all that later.

I had a wonderful Mother’s Day weekend!  My children were safe, well and happy.  That is what counts!

Olivia came home on Friday. On Saturday, Olivia and I went to Cookeville for lunch at the Olive Garden and to the movies to see Star Trek. Lunch was good and Star Trek is awesome. We loved it. After a stop at Starbucks we went to the market, where she and I both purchased a funky little painting (not the same), and then to the grocery store. Back at home, Larry had grilled us some burgers.

DSCN0628

Zac and Kristin came on Saturday evening, and we all enjoyed a good visit. They brought me several flowers to plant (which is what I asked for.) I am going to get those into the ground this evening if it isn’t raining when I get home. Olivia had brought me a framed photo collage that she had put together (Shutterfly). A funny moment came Sunday just before services when my friend Rachel gave me a little gift – a copy of Entertainment Weekly with Adam Lambert on the cover and article inside – I had to keep it face down under my Bible all through the services. ha ha

DSCN0616

On Sunday Olivia cooked a very good lunch for all of us. We had Mushroom Pork Tenderloin, Baked and Creamy mashed potatoes (with cream cheese and sour cream), Broccoli Caserole, Macaroni and Cheese(homemade), Yeast Rolls, and Peach Cobbler with ice cream. It was all delicious and I appreciated it very much!
We took several photos, at three different times. We had some difficulties getting everyone at the same place at the same time in decent clothes! (laughing) At one point Chase said we should just Photoshop a certain person into the photo (ZAC!)
I loved the whole weekend — thanks to my kids: Chase, Zac, Kristin and Olivia!!! and my sweetheart hubby!

Tonight was ROCK Nite on American Idol. When I heard the theme, I thought it should be an awesome night – even had Slash as the mentor! I expected my favorite, ADAM Lambert, to really give an awesome performance. And I really thought all 4 would do well. I could not imagine what Adam would do next (given his past performances).  I was a little nervous for him after last week’s vote… not for his ability, but just a little worried because of the vote last week.  okay, that is what all I was thinking before the show began.  But when Adam performed, I was so impressed!  He is awesome! He does put on a good show. And he has such a range! He was so much better than everyone else tonight. The show began and ended with Adam Lambert. Great!!

okay. I will stop talking about the show. You knew I had to, didn’t you? You would have been surprised if I had not!  :)

When I blogged last, I talked about going to BEV’s and planning a little work day. It rained on us nearly the whole day, but we got a lot accomplished in spite of the rain.  The brothers-in-law worked on Bev’s porch – it was falling down on one side – they jacked it up and put concrete blocks under it.

LW and CHANDLER trimmed some trees and shrubs. Chandler was the cutest thing… just working and clipping away… like he was much bigger and older than his nearly 6 years.  He didn’t want them to stop working! LW said he talked to him non-stop and asked about a thousand questions.  I think they both enjoyed each other very much. Gail and Renda and I worked on mom’s house. Mom had left at the end of December and has been with Renda and Gail since then. No one had the time to really work at it before, so there was a lot to do.  When she left, no one knew she would not be able to come back to her house for so long.  So we cleared out a lot of things, cleaned up, emptied the refrigerator and freezer, then turned off the electricity. She has been paying  some bills even though she wasn’t living there, and this was the last thing we needed to do before cutting the electric. They took some more of her things to her, including her t.v. to put in her room at Renda’s.

my helpers got a little distracted !!

my helpers got a little distracted !!

It was a little sad – taking away most of her clothes and really closing up the house. But… I just looked at it like helping her move. or just coming there to do some work for her.  But  Mom is doing REALLY good. She still isn’t able to live by herself… and we don’t know if she will again. She WANTS to but she is not able to cook or prepare her food so far. Even though she can’t live alone and take care of herself, she is doing very well, and is ‘herself’.

BAYLEE is just the cutest thing! and so sweet! She is trying to crawl – she doesn’t give it too much effort tho, she just pulls herself around! Bev says she is too lazy to crawl. I didn’t get to see Lindsey and Sam again. Recently when I have been there, they have been at their dad’s.  So I am going to have to time my weekends better! It was good to see Chandler, Courtney and Eric too!

My kids will all be here on Sunday for Mother’s Day… I am looking forward to having them. I love having them all come to visit at the same time. Olivia says she is going to cook. I will definitely enjoy that.
